Scott King's characteristic hooks and lush lyrical imagery are grounded in rootsy, Biblically-relevant, acoustic guitar-driven rock.

GOSPEL: Contemporary Gospel, ROCK: Acoustic
Details:
Answering as quickly as possible the increasing demands from his fans for his latest batch of songs that they'd been hearing live, Scott King banged out "Wrecking Ball" in just under three months. Recorded in the wilds of Maine on a stand-alone digital machine, "Wrecking Ball" was inspired by his ongoing walk with Christ and delivers new interpretations of faith-inspired themes.
So, who is Scott King? Simply put, he is one of the finest acoustic guitar players around, with stunning fretwork reminiscent of Bruce Cockburn. Bostonâs Metronome Magazine writes of Kingâs âfinger-picking magic,â while Rounder Records recording artist Nerissa Nields dubs King âa tremendous guitarist: clear, tender, and fresh.â But King doesnât only deliver what former Northern Lights guitarist Bob Emery calls âexcellent guitar chops.â He also happens to write songs thatâll knock your socks off.
SoundCheck Magazine says King infuses his songs with âplenty of hooks,â and âreally knows how to write those passages that stick in your headâ but this listener has perhaps said it best: âKing has a lyrical depth that rivals those of the best songwriters of his generation and tunes that capture you with the very first notes."
Kingâs discography begins with Xguruâs "Wonder of it All" (1999), produced by Tim OâHeir (Juliana Hatfield, Folk Implosion) and recorded at the infamous Fort Apache in Boston. Kingâs first solo recording, "The Thomaston Sessions" (2004), was an acoustic showcase for his exceptional guitar style, melodic choruses, and poignant lyrics.
In 2005, King released "Portrait," an imaginative, rootsy potpourri of several different genres. Exploring everything from true love to Biblical irony, "Portrait" is a moving demonstration of Kingâs outstanding creativity and versatility as a songwriter.
"Wrecking Ball" (2007) continues this journey, once again showcasing King's linguistic prowess and versatile musicianship as well as his original take on familiar themes.
