Tawny grew up in Miami, Florida with a dad who had 6 guitars laying around the house at any time. She started with learning to play piano on their old antique upright and picked up the guitar later in high school when she and a couple friends started a band. They played cover songs as they developed their own originals to play out at local clubs and coffee shops. Now Tawny's writing and vocal performance is her focus. Her writing has been influenced by the various artists she loves to listen to: from the classic female artists such as Sarah McLaughlin, Jewel and Sheryl Crow, to the British and European rock scene of the Beatles, Mew, Wilco, U2 and Elliot Smith, Tawny's music may reflect what she has listened to, but it is in every way unique to these influences.
Now in Nashville, Tennessee, Tawny hopes to tour in 2007 with her new self-titled release, her first full-length album. We hope to see good things from this artist as she continues to grow and develop her style and own musical sound.
