ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: Power Pop
Details:
The Scarlet Theory is a band for those who realize there's more to life than punchin' 9-5, working FOR the mighty dollar and then dying. We are here for the world changers, the socially and spiritually conscious - the revolutionaries, the ones who burn bright, the losers, the "beautiful" - you know who you are. And, you have found friends! Oh, and we LOVE to rock!!
The energy and in-your-face power of bands like Switchfoot and Collective Soul. The moody melodies of U2 and Snow Patrol. While these sounds conjure-up a pretty good idea of what you'll hear from TST, be ready for a few colors to run outside the lines.
The Scarlet Theory, Idaho-based indie rockers, offer up their 6-song EP, "Let It Go," for the guitar-lovers among us, pretty much everyone who craves oxygen.
Guitars are featured prominently throughout âLet It Go,â along with lead singer Jerry Feeâs distinctive vocals. The EP is bookended by two versions of the same song, âHold On So Long,â the opener thickly electric with rippinâ guitars, the closer a softer acoustic version that allows the clear vocals to shine. Guitarist/keyboardist April Whiteâs bright harmonies on the closer only made me want to hear more of her. Itâs Feeâs lead vocals that stand out elsewhere, especially on the melodic âWhy Do I,â a moody track examining the things we miss, its repetitive guitar and bass riffs pinning you to your chair.
âSmileâ is another electric howler, standing out for its thoughtful production. The throbbing keys and guitars powerfully convey the agonies of betrayal, belying the ironic title. The moody layered guitars of the title track are equally illuminating, and as a parting gift to the guitar aficionados, âThe Aftermathâ thunders with crunchy riffs. The Scarlet Theory: a quartet that brings home the power.
