I have been playing music since very young, and have been writing music since early adulthood. My shifting styles over the years, from a pure jazz to a more melodic pop sound have made my music a bit unique in its own sense.
From a very young age I was programmed by my parents to love the Beatles, the Carpenters, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, and Herb Albert, to name but a few. By ten years old I could sing along to pretty much every Beatles song. Later in life I discovered on my own Billy Joel, Jethro Tull, The Kinks, and then eventually XTC, Nina Hagen, and The Talking Heads. These days there is nothing like sipping on a good Radiohead song, or grooving to some Mercury Rev or White Stripes. I still like jazz, nothing like lazing to some Coltrane ballads or gettinâ down to some Joe Henderson big band. But my real love for music has developed into solid pop or rock, with interesting melodies and time structures, glazed with smart and challenging lyrics.
It is hard for me to pin down exactly where my songs fall into this mixâ¦I finds when I am writing my songs, and it is time for the lyrics, that they most often pour out of me from the subconscious. A majority of my songs end up being about love, in one form or another. It is the driving force in my songs; love gotten, love spurned.
"All Because of You" is a compilation of several years of my "pop" genre work, encompassing vocal/guitar/piano pieces with the help of some computer software as well as basic acoustic setups. You will find a nice variety of tunes on this album, which are all aimed to please in a melodic and thought-provoking manner.
I hope that this album gives as much pleasure to those takers as it has given me in creating it. The discovery of emotion and the pinning of desire to showcase my feelings come out in this collection, and I hope that it can be enjoyed by all!
