NOVINA is a work that fully explores the brazilian musical combination of piano and acoustic guitar, these two instruments that together can elaborate sophisticated rhythmic, harmonic and melodic dialogs. Here is presented twelve of my compositions, where the first ten were especially made for this project and the last two bonus tracks, although former compositions, are well fit into the thematic of NOVINA.

The word NOVINA comes from the Portuguese phrase âNOva VIda NovA", that can be rawly translated as: âNew Life Newâ. It tries to express the life's process of cyclic renewal that we all experience. For me, creating the ten original themes of NOVINA was in itself one of these processes once that, for the first time, I composed directly using the guitar, instead of taking advantage of the comfort that I feel on the piano, my native instrument. These themes were then born with a different musical language, like siblings sharing the same thematic similarities that are conveied in NOVINA. These compositions are cheerful and up beat, and together describe NOVINA's musical plot. The two bonus tracks equally share the same context of returning and renewal once that PARATALÁ is the name of my next piano solo CD and SAUDOBRA is the name of my previous piano solo work.

NOVINA was entirely made by me, as I decided to do the artistics (compositions, arrangements, performances on the piano and guitar), the technicals (recording, mixing and mastering) and the graphics (photos and design). I did that in order to be able to keep uniformity and unicity in steps of NOVINA's creation. Acting as a contemporary renascence man, I took technological tools as my assistants to build NOVINA always keeping focused on its original thematical idea. I would like to express my gratitude to all that supported this work, in special to Cláudia that was always present and participant, and without whom this project would probably never be done. I hope you enjoy NOVINA as much as Iâve enjoyed to create it.
