once upon a time
in a land far away
there lived a creature bassist
who loved to write and play

lovely, splendid music
hooky, fun and loud
the only thing he needed
was three to make a crowd

so one day as he wandered
naked through the forest
he ran into a monkey
who was also a guitarist

hand in hand
beast and man
they danced with heart-felt glee!
o'er streams
they glowed and gleamed
engulfed in ecstasy!

but as their laughter faded
and silence was renewed
they heard a distant rumble
echo through the wood

'what could that be?' the monkey queried,
alert, alarmed and nervous
'well, let's go see!' replied the man
intrigued, invited, curious

o'er dell!
under bough!
through the brambles
and oh how!

they marched and marched
an army of two
and as they neared
the sound, it grew:

'FWAK!' 'CRASH!' 'BLAM!' 'KAPOW!'
the once distant sound was thunderous now!

they blindly guessed
at the source of the noise
'a dragon? a wizard?
satanic young boys?'

'alas! at last! we've lasted at least!
to see with our eyes the noise-making beast!
so let us without hesitation behold
whomever, whenever, whatever unfolds!'

and so they peered
from o'er a knoll
a vision of mercy
of mysteries untold

part man, part ape
part bitch - a mess!
with 5 o'clock shadow
and womanly breasts

a creature so foul, so ugly, so dumb
twas no surprise when it said, 'me play drum!'

so at once the creature
the monkey, the man
united as brothers
and hence was the band

with one part dumb
one ugly, one crummy
they banded together
and made something Yummy
