âThe second album is the one that has to blow people away,â says A.Rex founder Andrew Espinola. âItâs like the Star Wars Trilogy. If Empire hadnât been any good no one wouldâve bothered with the teddy bears in the third film.â
Andrew Espinola (singer/guitarist/pianist) and Andrew Jones (drummer) plan to do just that with their sophomore album. Recorded in under two weeks at the Aerie Studio in Austin, both Andrews claim Moving Backwards is the best pop album in the last five years.

Espinola and Jones describe the record as: âpop without being slick, and artistic without being over the top. Itâs like mixing Coldplay and country music.â The record started writing itself as soon as Espinola and Jones met. A providential encounter on myspace led to a jam session at a rehearsal studio that begat the modern form of A. Rex. âI used to tell people we met on the internet until I realized they thought we were dating,â says Espinola.

Moving Backwards will be available this May, while tour dates will be announced later this summer.
