Reggae music with a conscious message. Bamaselo is not completely roots reggae since it uses styles like ska, rocksteady to riddims and dancehall music to make its own, with its Central American origin, the vibes are strong and clear here.

WORLD: Reggae, WORLD: World Beat
Details:
BAMASELO was born in Costa Rica, in the year 2001. The name is spontaneously born upon the first band rehearsals an it simply means âletâs do itâ in spanish. Originally a strictly reggae roots band, with time, the band has incorporated sounds from Ska and Rocksteady to the more contemporary sounds of the riddims and dancehall, and even some latin music, bringing political & conscious reggae messages with rich music influences to create a unique and powerful sound.
BAMASELO's actual members are:
Michael Livingston: main vocals
Kumary Sawyers: vocals
Daniel Perez: vocals & guitar
David Perez: keyboard, guitars & bass
Jose Esteban Carmona: bass
Noni: vocals & percussion
Jah Jerry: drums
Jorge Dannenberger: trombone
BAMASELO came to be from a newspaper ad. Back in 2001, it was posted an ad in the classifieds asking people who were interested in playing reggae music. After reunion, the band fired up and began rehearsing. This is how the band came to be. Members of the actual band have taken part in other projects in Costa Rica music scene before, which include Gandhi, Mekatelyu, Nada, and La Malacrianza.
With time, the meaning for BAMASELO has come to reflect the philosophy of the band, being an analogy for ACTION! This sense of movement the band has reflected upon stage and in every challenge because action speaks louder than words and words without actions are worthless. In the recent years, the band has been beating their vibes to a loud beat, which has shaken the reggae scene in their country. Sharing stage with different reggae stars amongst which we can mention are some international reggae artist as Nonpalidece, Gondwana, Sizzla, Elephant Man, Eek-A-Mouse, T.O.K., Chuck Fender, Raices y Cultura, Ky-mani Marley, Israel Vibrations, Richie Spice, Mad Cobra, Capleton, Johnny Dread, and The Itals.
Shows have grown and an increased radio play in not only Costa Rica but across America, Europe and the U.S.A. shows a foreword of things to come. No to mention all the Costa Rican reggae artists like Native Culture, Mekatelyu, Frecuencia Libre, Trinity Roots Band, Tapon, Jahricio, Bukie G, El Soldado, Blass y Gonin, Moises Ay, Jah Thunder, and Resistencia, to mention a few that had shared the lights with Bamaselo. In short time to come, with the birth of their first album, BAMASELO will be expanding their horizons, and share their reggae vibration with the world, making sure to beat the foundations and energize the public for years to come with reggae music.
Their debut album, âNaturalâ is released independently in 2007, and includes 15 songs plus 2 bonus tracks and the deluxe edition comes with a dvd with music videos and live presentations of the band.
