Details:
I've been fascinated with guitar for as long as I can remember. I began playing in grade school with garage bands and all the staples of late 50's and early 60's rock. In the mid-60's the folk boom turned me on to traditional blues and roots music. Here for the first time the guitar wasn't relegated to just cool solos but it sounded like an orchestra in the hands of blues, ragtime and slide players. I was hooked. I turned on, tuned down and unplugged. I first heard John Fahey in the mid/late sixties and in his music I heard the orchestral possibilities of a steel-string guitar with musical forms based not only in western European classical idioms but music that moved with the breadth of American blues and jazz. Following high school I began writing and performing solo guitar music and took my act on the road. After two years of playing every place I could in the Northeast I decided that maybe it was time to get a full time job and stop living in my car. Music took a back seat to a career that produced a (mostly) stable income. I never stopped playing and performing all together but work kept me plenty busy. In 1999 I had an opportunity to attend a workshop for fingerstyle players and it reignited my passion. Since then I've been fortunate to perform throughout New England and I've just released my new CD "finally home".
