Black Aurora is a melodic metal band from a part of the world that isn't necessarily known for its melodic metal talent. Part of an emerging local metal scene, the band is quickly establishing itself as a unique force in metal music. Originating in Edmonton, Alberta Canada in November 2005, Black Aurora was formed by David Meirovich and a few friends who were just looking to have a little drink and a little play. After meeting up with a barrage of incredibly talented musicians Black Aurora finally began to take full form by mid-2006. Inspired by every kind of music from Thrash Metal to Classical, Black Aurora quickly set out to develop a sound that would actually offer something meaningful to the metal/hard rock community.

The first album, Polar Night, was recorded in the late fall/winter of 2006 and was independently released on February 27, 2007 through the bandsâ own record label, Rusted Records. The album was mixed at Crystal Sound Studio in Edmonton, Alberta by John Stuart and Kevin Hoskin. The album is the culmination of many months of hard work and songwriting. Black Aurora is a band that pride themselves on being able to write and perform a wide array of musical styles. They aren't scared of letting a death metal scream soar over half a song or pick up an acoustic guitar and introspectively chill out. Good music speaks for itself and the variety of the first album will clearly demonstrate that. Black Aurora refuses to be bound by the 'traditional' rules of metal music, they are out to reinvent it.

Black Aurora is a very new band on the scene but already a full album has been completed and a -second- album is planned to be recorded throughout the second half of 2007. Musically influenced by everything from Viking death metal to classical music, Black Aurora is a new take on the best metal has to offer.
