Swank jazz standards and the original songs they inspired done in the new swank jazz style; fun, sly, slinky, sweet, sultry and sexy.
14 MP3 Songs
JAZZ: Smooth Jazz, POP: with Live-band Production
Details:
The Black & white CD is the first time Geoffrey Leigh Tozer & His Swank Pharaohs have recorded other peopl'es music mixed in with their own. In this case it's jazz standards done in the inimitable "new swank jazz" style for which they have become famous.
It is characterized by an infectious groove and an undeniably joyous performance filled with light, humanity and fun, all the while not losing sight of the groove as the centerpiece.
Check out the first track "Puttin' on The Ritz/Istanbul Not Constantinople" as a prime example of their music guaranteed to get you in a good mood. Follow it up with the sparkling orignal "All Over You" and the rich heart rending version of the Frank Sinatra's "In The Wee Small Hours" for the full spectrum of sweet, sultry, sleek and swank emotion.
Their version of the classic "Nature Boy" has been described; "Nat King Cole used to own Nature Boy but Geoffrey Leigh Tozer & His Swank Pharaohs have re-invented it and made it their own" and also "the best dam arrangement of Nature Boy, period."
Mr. Tozer is the first citizen of Swanktown and can be heard on the weekly radio show/podcast The Jazz Diaries. He is originally from New York but lives now in Los Angeles.
