ROCK: Folk Rock, POP: Folky Pop
Details:
Liam Titcombâs sophomore album entitled, Canât Let Go marks a strong return for this critically acclaimed singer, songwriter. A collection of sophisticated sounds and harmonic textures, all framed by Liamâs incredible lyrical sensibility.
Liamâs self-titled debut album received tremendous reviews from critics across the country upon release in 2005. ââ¦an impressive Dylan/Beatles/Neil Young-esque collection of songsâ¦â â Chart Magazine. ââ¦Liam Titcombâ¦is already earning raves as one of Canadaâs next great folk/pop songwriters.â â Edmonton Journal.
Liam has been working on Canât Let Go intently over the last year after touring across the country several times with Great Big Sea, David Usher, Tom Cochrane, etc. along with a series of intimate solo-performances. Canât Let Go was recorded in Nashville with renowned Grammy winning producer, Jay Joyce (Patty Griffin, Tim Finn, Chantal Kreviazuk, Dixie Chicks, Wallflowers). While recording, he lived for a couple of months in an RV in the parking lot of Walmart which only added to the adventure.
On Canât Let Go Liam Titcomb wrote or co-wrote all of the songs and plays a bulk of the musical parts: vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, piano, drums, bass and percussion. âWorking with Jay was truly a dream come true,â explains Liam. The sessions were easy, natural and creative. We would begin the day by talking about what the song needed then we would take turns playing different instruments until we found the right feel for each song and then lay down the track.â
â11:30â marks the first single from Canât Let Go. âI wrote this track with Jay in Nashville one morning after talking about all the things that are wrong with the world. â11:30 and itâs not too lateâ is a reminder that there is still time to get things right,â says Liam. âA few weeks after we wrote this song the Doomsday Clock was reset to 7 minutes to Midnight, bringing even more meaning to this track.â
On Liamâs self-titled debut he worked with producers Bill Bottrell (Sheryl Crow) and Pierre Marchand (Sarah McLachlan). Liamâs debut album included the hit songs âSad Eyes,â and âCounting Headlightsâ. âSad Eyesâ reached Top 10 at Canadian radio and the MuchMoreMusic Countdown Charts.
In 2006, Liam was nominated for the 9th Annual Canadian Radio Music Awards for Best New Group Or Solo Artist (Hot AC). At the Junoâs in 2004, Liam delivered a memorable performance at the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) Songwriters' Circle. In 2003, Liam contributed the song "War" to the benefit album Peace Songs in support of War Child Canada's humanitarian programs.
"Liam Titcomb has the makings of being either a big star or a semi-obscure, highly respected musician. It is his choiceâ¦â - The Coast, Halifax Weekly. Watch out for the new release â June 5th, 2007.
