Wall-of-sound rock from the heartland. Think Jane's Addiction and Smashing Pumpkins
13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, ROCK: Hard Rock
Details:
Over the past four years, Neptune Crush has brought a refreshing alternative to the heartland's musical landscape. No, this isn't boy band pop, or some post punk wannabe outfit trying to emulate what has already come before. This is rock and roll, pure and simple. And, Neptune Crush is the real deal.
Comparisons have been made to such influential bands as the Smashing Pumpkins, Janes Addiction, Blind Melon, and early Radiohead. However, Neptune Crush realize the importance of forging their own identity by crafting songs that are at once relevant and commercially acceptable to a broad and varied audience.
After the release of their self-titled debut in 2001, the band underwent a personnel change. Guitarist and lead vocalist Eric Lysaght, drummer Eddie Spinaio and bassist Wil Pelly teamed up with producer Jeff Tomei to begin work on the "Blinky" EP, which they released the following year. Tomei, credited as having worked on the Smashing Pumpkins "Siamese Dream" album, as well as Matchbox Twenty's monumental debut "Yourself Or Someone Like You" found the magical combination in the band's solid arrangements, top-notch musicianship, and Lysaght's unique vocal delivery.
Industry reaction to "Blinky" was immediate, propelled by a writeup in Demodiaries A&R Newsletter. On the strength of the single "Dead Air", the band soon found themselves in NYC showcasing for Epic Records and a room full of suits. However, the band had invested too much into the songwriting process to kill the momentum, and decided to head down to Atlanta to finish the job they had started with Tomei.
By early 2004, a full-length record was in the can and ready for pressing. Neptune Crush also added to their "wall-of-sound" lineup with the addition of guitarist Jeff Gallo, and in late October harvested the fruits of their labor with the release of "An Evening In The Starlight". The record's lead-off single, "Gasoline Rainbow", went into regular rotation at St. Louis' KSHE one week before it's official release, and began to receive attention at other area Rock and Modern Rock stations, like KPNT and WVRV. Within 3 weeks of "Starlight's" release, they received an 'add' at XM Satellite Radio Ch. 52, and were featured as Artist Of The Week. Currently, the second breakout single, "Tangerine" is creeping up the "most played" charts at XM, and requests for the new album are beginning to come in from as far away as Rio, Norway, and Berlin.
Neptune Crush continues to win over audiences with their dynamic live performances as well. Aside from numerous headliner shows, the band has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Evanescence, Marilyn Manson, Zwan, Cold, Eyes Adrift (Krist Novoselic), Lucky Boys Confusion, Orgy, Gravity Kills, The Urge, Primer 55, Lennon, Kill Hannah, and Apartment 26.
The band is managed by Lance LaBreche of IGF Artist Management in NYC, who can be reached by calling (212) 971-9741, or by e-mailing lance@igfentertainment.com.
