About The Silver Sky Orchestra

Starting in music at the age of eight, Edward Sarkis Balian (The Silver Sky Orchestra), initially studied both flute and clarinet. Inspired by his uncle, a concert violinist for the Detroit, Atlanta and Buffalo Symphony Orchestras and by listening to his fatherâs extensive Tchaikovsky collection, he wrote his first original music composition for the B-flat clarinet at age 9.

By the mid-1990s, Balianâs attention turned to a modern-romantic, âmovie soundtrackâ style of musical expression. Introduced to San Diego in 1972, Balian has resided there since 1995. In this release, the Silver Sky Orchestra provides a tribute to the many moods and vast beauty found on the world-famous San Diego Coast.
