The mockingbirds were born huddled in a dank basement shelter during a Missouri tornado alert. Fortunately for the tight-knit combo there was a small, arcane library of religious material that kept their morale afloat during their two-score and a fortnight exclusion from the rest of humanity. Whilst studying the Presbyterian catechism and their slowly growing facial hair, the mockingbirds began to create a language of sounds; a music of sorts. Bits of newspaper clippings were collaged into stories, remembered melodies from far and wide seemed to blossom from the collective unconscious.

Nourishment was had, it must be confessed, from a horde of rodentia and the healthy arthropod population in this mid-western mainstay. The group emerged pale and temporarily blind. Unaware of the extent of the cataclysm God had hurled upon the modest Ozark Mountain River town, the tiny band of survivors (once sight had been thankfully restored) could not believe their eyes. The population had been decimated, only to be replaced by a murder of crows and a flock of ravenous mockingbirds.
