The desire to become a bass guitar player started as a senior in high school. Growing up in Cincinnati was also an advantage, especially in the neighborhood where Phelps Collins and his younger brother Bootsy lived. We often traded notes and improved ourselves as the energy of each others skill increased.

During the next four years at Central State University, in Wilberforce, Ohio, I studied to recieve a minor degree in music and continued to advance my bass guitar playing ability until one day when I heard the guitar sound of the late great Wes Montgomery as was introduced to me by my step father, Willard Smith. Wesâs signature style of octaves melodies played with the thumb simply amazed me. I have adopted this style of playing and have used my influence as a bass guitarist to develop what I call âSmooth Jazz Guitarâ. Other influences include Norman Brown, George Benson & Paul Jackson, Jr.

I do indeed feel fortunate to have completed a music project where I was able to freely express myself and then share what was in my heart with the rest of the world. My music has been described by others as:
