Birdie is the creation of singer-songwriter and dancer, Teresa Gasca-Burk. A musical celebration for children, Birdie blends pleasing harmonies, catchy melodies and positive lyrics into a dancing, fun experience for all!

Birdie has been inspired by Teresa's work with kids in music and movement over the last ten years. After years of teaching she discovered, "I've never met a child who doesn't love to dance and sing!" Writing and performing for children felt like the most natural next step for her. She had already been writing and performing with her husband, guitar player, Gary Burk, for over 12 years. The two met in Los Angeles, blended their writing talents and began performing with their band in some of LA's top venues, including The Troubadour, The Palomino, Club Lingerie, and At My Place.

After moving to the Central Coast in 1994, they shifted gears and became an acoustic duo, playing in clubs and coffee houses from Santa Barbara to Cambria. Teresa also turned her creative talents toward dance for children. As an instructor she was in awe of the power, influence and beauty that music played in the lives of her students and herself. It inspired her to write her own music for children.

Again she called on the talents of her partner Gary and the writing began. This time her lyrics included a positive message for kids...celebrate life...celebrate who you are!!!

Birdie was co-produced by the talented Curt Bisquera. Curt is a successful artist who has performed and recorded with Tom Petty, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, and Seal to name a few. The beautiful finising touches of keyboards and background vocals were the work and talent of Daniela Spagnola, an accomplished jazz vocalist who performs regularly with Joe Picaro, John Chiodini, and Abe Laboriel Sr.

Today, Teresa blends her playful, embracing vocals with Gary's soulful harmonies and guitar playing to create a fun, interactive, "Get up on your feet and dance!" experience for the whole family. "I'm writing and performing for the kids and the kid in all of us!" smiles Teresa.
