The Brockington Ensemble was founded in 1963 by Professor Irvin Brockington, who had a dream to form a mass choir of Philadelphia area gospel singers. The vision became a reality as he gathered various singers and family members to form âThe Gospel Singers Ensemble.â

In November 1963, as a nation mourned the sudden death of President J.F.K., the gospel world celebrated the birth of this great aggregation as they appeared in their debut concert.

Over the years, the Brockington Ensemble has spread the gospel message to the masses through various mediums including television and stage. Their talents were recognized nationally by the late great Rev. James Cleveland in 1967, when he personally asked them to participate in the forming of his Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) Convention in Detroit, Michigan.

Apart from Professor Brockingtonâs heartfelt lyrics and creative arrangements, the Ensemble maintains the traditional sound of gospel music through their powerful, hard-hitting choral delivery, as well as their harmonic and dynamic ingenuity.

Now, some 41 years and 14 recordings later, having the distinction of being one of the first choirs to record a âLiveâ album; the Ensemble attributes its longevity to its founder, a humble God-fearing man, who believes that God can do anything but fail.
