Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1âs Save the Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners.
Christine Caldi grew up singing near Boston, Massachusetts and has a strong classical background as a mezzo soprano. You can sense that in her music, it has a dark, rich, powerful quality about it. In the early 80s, Christine decided to leave the classical world for a while and enrolled in the Berklee College of Music Jazz School in Boston, Massachusetts and was soon scatting and improvising with some of the best instructors and performers in the wonderful world of jazz.
One of her fellow Berklee students invited her to Paris and she willingly accepted, thrilled to continue her musical journey in such a prestigious city.
Christine found exceptionally talented musicians in Paris and loves collaborating with âpeople who take musical risks.â She often plays in clubs and theatres around Paris and has just started breaking into the festival circuit, always enjoying the immediate contact with her audience.
Christine is a generous, warm performer and her live concerts are a vibrant testimony to her musical talent and enthusiasm. Her latest CD, âGRACEâ highlights her natural mezzo-soprano voice in a selection of gospel and blues traditional songs arranged with a groove that leaves no one indifferent. âGRACEâ features a rhythm section of
masterful musicians from France and Benin, an eclectic mix that works wonders, musically and âGraceâfully.
