JAZZ: Weird Jazz, FOLK: Political
Details:
Along with his seminal group Shockabilly, Eugene Chadbourne spent the '80s playing with such "new wave" icons as The Violent Femmes and Camper Van Beethoven. His performance and songwriting have matured - well, fermented maybe - since then, and the two concerts from 2006 here show that Femmes Brian Ritchie and Victor DeLorenzo have as well. Joined by Brian Jackson - who made his mark playing with Gil Scott-Heron - on piano and flute, the GOIN quartet play an impressive set of moody jazz and pointed protest in Amsterdam's beautiful Bimhuis theater. With guest Molly Chadbourne also singing some of her vintage hits, the GOIN band is quite simply one of the most solid in the doctor's long career, and the concert captured herein is nothing short of excellent.
109 minutes - stereo DVD - NTSC - all region
BONUS MP3s INCLUDED: The complete Bimhuis Show and select tracks from the Plusetage in MP3 format. Almost three hours of bonus audio that plays on any Macintosh or PC.
