Popular songs of the mid-19th Century and Civil War era.
15 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Traditional Folk, KIDS/FAMILY: General Children's Music
Details:
The Camptown Shakers recreate the music that was wildly popular during the Civil War era playing instruments and styles that are truly accurate to the period. Their repertoire includes songs form the minstrel stage including the works of Stephen Foster, Dan Emmett, and the other songwriters of the time: as well as fiddle tunes, reels, breakdowns, and jigs documented to antebellum times. The Shakers lineup includes Dave Culgan on gut-strung fretless banjos, Renny Allgyer on fiddle, King Bennett on tambourine and rhythm bones, and the eminent Rich Bauer on jawbone. The band has been performing at reenactments, and other historic and concert venues for many years and is featured in the soundtrack for Historic Fort Delaware's newly released documentary. The film's title "Waterbound" was inspired from one of the songs on the Shaker's latest recording "Tooth & Nail".
