Comprised of Britt and Brett Pedersen, the married couple offer a sound of celestial folk. They've taken a different approach to the typically stripped down genre with a sound that is much more grandiose and orchestral.

FOLK: Folk Pop, POP: Folky Pop
Details:
Johan the Angel's most interesting particular of its history might be the brevity of its beginning. Brett Pedersen and Britt White met in the sylvan backdrops of Portland, Oregon, when introduced by a friend they shared in common. Three weeks later, after an immediate friendship burgeoned throughout crepuscular heart-to-hearts and a list of to-dos that germinated like kudzu, Brett and Britt became engaged to be wed; although neither formally proposed, there was a simple understanding that was somehow communicated that evening. But they knew they had work to do, so a fortnight later, they were wed among family and Johnny Cash anthems in June of 2006.
Directly thereafter, Britt and Brett commenced their own project under the musical moniker Brett had chosen during his previous sojourn in Sweden: Johan the Angel. Its instrumentation, focused around orchestral percussion and folk-influenced melodies, manifested through thick, rich tones, became something they could only describe as âepic folk.â With the Herculean aid of their close friend and artist, Bryan O'Daly (www.irononghost.com, www.myspace.com/irononghost), and CD Mastering by Axel Oberg, Johan the Angel's first album was completed and will be officially released by Brave Morning Records in Spring 2007.
