Kelly crafts a new set of songs for his latest release âRadio Jukeboxâ. Jim Carlin who co-produce Kelly's last 2 CD releases says that he noticed right away when he heard Kellyâs new material, that Kelly was writing radio format. Jim should know, Jim has worked with the likes of Mark Schulman, whoâs currently touring with Cher and has played with 80s hit makers Simple Minds. Kelly didnât find Jimâs remarks negative as some artist might have taken it. Some artist might feel that writing for radio is a sell out of oneâs true art. Kelly believes that it was time to try and write for the audience he wanted to reach, so he was actually happy to hear Jimâs comments. âRadio Jukeboxâ starts off with a Hip-Pop grove that skips between the power cords of rock, creating a style of modern pop rock that carries the latest images of kelly springer. Kelly took full control of this set of songs, from writer, singer to producer.

kelly springer moved to the Northwest in the fall of 1983 from the small Arkansas town,Cabot. Quickly realizing how vibrant of a music scene Portland is, Kelly joined up with a local band as a drummer and became established in the Northwest as a drummer for hire. Kelly drummed for the next 3 years as a hired gun. His drumming took him to New York, Los Angeles, Seattle and on 2 regional & national tours. Kelly decided to leave the drums and to move to the front of the line up as a singer and bass player. He crafted his songwriting skills in the form of two local bands he started in the Portland area, âNaked Faceâ & âMegaphone Poetâ. Finally after trying on different hats and styles, Kelly forged out as a solo artist and embraced what he does best, write and sing adult contemporary pop rock. Kellyâs writing has landed him publishing deals with DSM Producers of New York, & 2 songs on the sound track of the independent film, âThe Scatteringâ, by VImages.
