From the dark depths of a storied and bloody past to the infinite possibilities of space, comes the lush and sophisticated sound of Kosmonaut. Inspired by the trials of revolution and space exploration and featuring a wide range of musical sounds, Kosmonaut seeks to bring true artistic creativity and virtuosity back to the realm of popular music.

Hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, Kosmonaut is a five-piece band playing a brand of music they like to call âRussian Neo-Classical Futurist Rockâ. Combining his intuitive musical talents and creativity with his theoretical knowledge of music, gained through years of formal music education, the band's principal song writer, Brent Wirth, a music composition major at York University, has successfully created a style of music that is both technically-proficient and memorable, the perfect compromise between traditional Western art and modern popular music.
With influences ranging from the Smashing Pumpkins and Ozma to Bach and Reich to Marx and Gagarin, this lofty musical goal is anything but shocking.

Much like their revolutionary inspirers, the members of Kosmonaut are very personal and long standing. Lead singer and bassist, Brent Wirth, anchors the group with his older brother and guitarist, Brian Wirth. Longtime friend and next-door neighbor Branden Kearse rounds out the guitar section to create multifaceted guitar arrangements. Sachin Monga, a brother in arms to the group since its reincarnation, provides piano and keyboards. Finishing off the quintet is drummer Chris Hampton a newer, but equally as close compatriot to the rest of the band. These five accomplished musicians have bonded in the present as friends having found inspiration by the musical and historical past and intend to make a dynamic career in music.

From driving guitar riffs to complex string arrangements and soldier marching beats to organic electronic elements, the music of Kosmonaut is far from ordinary. Combining the traditions of rock with keen virtuosity, Kosmonaut is one of the most unique and compelling new bands to form in some time.

Despite rampant rumors, the members of Kosmonaut are definitely not Communists. In fact, they fully encourage North American Capitalism â especially at the merch table.

After a strong debut performance at The Underground in Hamilton with upcoming indie-rock stars, the Junction (Universal), Kosmonaut is excited to launch a string of live shows across southern Ontario this summer.
