A chilling ambience resonates in the practice room each time Never the Man completes a new tune. A unique and flavorful stew of sound is created when the writing skills of Jholeen Meeks (vocals), Kevin Hart (guitar), Robbie Hall (drums), and Juan Chavolla (bass) are united. This union stems from a diverse variety of influences. Their songs are a substance of entrancing melodies and powerful hooks. Each tune has a unique feel that is complimented by combining and switching between clean acoustic and heavy guitar pieces. Every combination being different yet held together and driven by the structure of well thought out bass lines and drum patterns.

THE SONGS:
The lyrics are extensions of feelings and thoughts experienced by both Jholeen and Kevin. Like the music, the words are of various concepts that any person can relate to. The meaning of each song is best left to the listener since much of the context is multi interpretive. You will hear riddles inspired by dark times at which the writer could not speak of except through the use of a pencil, paper, and a melody. Then there are some songs that are straight forward messages with intent to lead the listener from endless wonder to a light of optimism. However worded, the basis of their song writing is to reveal that while trekking in a world of question and doubt, ones spirit is sometimes left with a void. Never the Mans music is an offer to help fill that void and sustain ones spirit. The group shares a professional attitude and work ethic. More importantly is the compelling ambition they share. Confident in their music they intend to hurdle any adversity on the way.

THE STORY:
In the summer of 2003, a band from Louisville, Kentucky discovered the hauntingly beautiful voice of Jholeen Meeks; who then lived in Phoenix, Arizona. Not long after, she took a leap of faith by moving across the country to sing for their band. How much more of a go-getter can one be? Her voice and song writing talent matched well with the music the Kentuckians presented her with. The project was still taking its baby steps when guitarist/songwriter Kevin Hart was asked to join. With the addition of Kevins creative genius, the band was steadily putting together quality music. They made their first demo in 2004 which was a self titled record of five of their earliest songs. This demo gained a lot of local air play and caused a dramatic increase in fans. The flow of things was then obstructed after the band went a while without a drummer. The spot was filled when Kevin ran into Robbie Hall, a talented drummer who he had jammed with in an earlier band. Robbies perfect timing and tasteful rhythm was just what they needed. The gate had opened and the band was flowing along leaving lasting impressions.

THE ROAD:
Never the Man pounded their mark in Louisville the summer of '04 when they played some high-caliber events. They were applauded by a crowd of 10,000+ when they were asked to play at the LRS fest at Louisvilles Waterfront Park. They sold hundreds of CDs at the show which was headlined by Finger 11 and Chevelle. A few months and a few more shows went by when the bass player felt the need to leave the band. Kevin, Jholeen, and Robbie werent discouraged and soon drove up to Hopatcong, New Jersey where they recorded eight new tunes at The Barbershop Studios. Kevin laid the bass tracks and after two long days of recording, Never the Man kicked back in the control room to here their creation. The sound coming from the speakers caused chills and uncontrollable grins. For it was then that they new this would be the next best thing to impact the world of music. Not long after bassist Juan Chavolla came to audition for the band. The three present members were wowed by how his skill, style and like attitude were a perfect fit. He was immediately asked to join. Now being complete Never the Man is on the way.
