In their follow up to Got To Get Up,the raucous slide and harp are back in a roots stew fiesta of Raw Chicago Blues and Gritty Memphis Soul. This CD also adds a few surprise influences so come on in and join the celebration.
12 MP3 Songs
BLUES: Rockin' Blues
Details:
If you enjoyed our last release, "Got To Get Up" you will love this one as well. Here's an idea of what our sound is like:
Imagine Sam Cooke after a fifth of bourbon. Imagine Earl Hooker or Robert Johnson backed up by Booker T and the MG's. Those influences fueled the following songs: Fishin' Where the Sharks are Swimmin', Better you Than Me, Ashes, Sugar Mama and Sometime Lovin'.
Our trademark sound combined the raw power of Chicago blues with the sweat and funk of Memphis soul. On our new release, the Seventh Sons have added a touch of country/gospel (Love Is The Work Of The Devil), a little Curtis Mayfield style balladry (Confide In Me), a down home blues assault (My Baby's Backyard), and some jazzy strutting (Way Too Hip).
Of course since we are a blues band from Chicago, we like to keep a good chunk of that tradition going (A Real Wild Party, What's Troubling Me, A Clean Way Of Living).
If you're looking for a powerful and eclectic mix of songs,"What's Troubling Me" is a CD that your'e sure to enjoy.
As a matter of fact, here's what Blues Review magazine had to say:
William Purvis' new disc is the other top pick this time. The Chicago guitar gunner knows how to dress up the down home blues. "What's Troubling Me" (self-release) is sparked by sweetly eccentric songwriting and creative soloing, crowned by Purvis' warm, welcome croon. Brian O'Hern's bubbling piano jumps out of the mix as if rendered in 3-D.
