Oriundo de San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato, México y residente de California, Redención es una voz única y original en un tiempo en el que el hip hop es sinónimo de violencia o de sexualidad machista y misógina. Aportando su visión y exponiendo sus ideas, Redención trabaja desde la periferia del comercio de masas y por convicción propia es parte del movimiento underground del hip hop en español. Nacido un 19 de Mayo de 1982, Redención ha sido influenciado no sólo por músicos tan variados como Dead Prez, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Common, y Bob Marley, sino que también por personajes históricos como José Martí, Subcomandante Marcos, Huey P. Newton, y Malcolm X con quién comparte día y mes de nacimiento y un espíritu de lucha, justicia, e igualdad. Redención se mantiene en contacto con el mundo rural de su niñez y el entorno urbano de su juventud. Guanajuato y California son los espacios en los que ha madurado su visión de vida y en los cuales ha adquirido una sensibilidad bicultural. Durante el 2005 se une a varios colectivos, así manteniéndose fiel a sus principios biculturales: Quilombo Arte (encabezado por Bocafloja) y VoltronMx (encabezado por El Supremo Vengador) en México, y a Urban Poets Crew en California (encabezado por The Prototype). También colabora con artistas, productores y músicos de varias partes del mundo. Su música y su arte son el reflejo de las inquietudes y de las experiencias que lo han forjado y que sirven de ímpetu espiritual. A native of San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato, Mexico and a California resident, Redemption is a unique and original voice in a time when hip hop is synonymous with violence or male-driven and misogynistic sexuality. Working from the periphery of mass commercialism he exposes his views and ideas; by self determination he is part of the underground hip hop en español movement. Born on May 19th 1982, Redemption has not only been influenced by an eclectic array of musical artists like Dead Prez, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Common and Bob Marley, but also by important historic figures like José Martí, Subcomandante Marcos, Huey P. Newton and Malcolm X with whom he shares his birthday and a spirit of struggle, justice and equality. Redemption keeps in touch with the rural environment that made up his childhood and the urban setting that he inhabits. Guanajuato and California are the loci where he has matured his outlook on life and where he has acquired a bicultural sensibility. During 2005, staying true to his bicultural roots, he became a part of various collectives: Quilombo Arte (lead by Bocafloja) and VoltronMx (lead by Supreme Avenger) in Mexico, and Urban Poets Crew (lead by The Prototype) in California. He also works with artists, producers and musicians throughout the world. The experiences and concerns that have forged him are reflected in his music and his art, and they are also his spiritual driving force.
