There exists a recording from a sunny afternoon last August, in a Coach House on
Palmerston Blvd. The sound quality isnât that great, and there are no titles to the freely
improvised, yet distinct pieces. But it marks the first time the four of us came together to
create music.

Each of us brought diverse artistic backgrounds, from jazz to folk, western to world traditions. And so, with no preconceived ideas of style, role or instrumentation, we began to play. The musical texture was fluid and ever changing, with each instrument and player taking and trading opportunities to create melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic parts.

Since then, we have listened, played, created, reinvented, and co-composed the original
and new improvisations. The resulting pieces of music, while they are highly arranged, still contain many elements of improvisation and musical spontaneity, and continue to evolve with each performance.

The essence of the music lies in the relationship each of us has with it, our connection to one another, and the collective open atmosphere in which it was created. In order to capture that spirit, we collaborated with the sound engineers and visual artists who helped us realize our vision of this organic music experience. This means that every song on the album was recorded with all the musicians playing at the same time in the same room with no click track, overdubs, splices, multi-tracking, edits, or effects such as reverb. This is as close to being in the room with us as possible.

.And so, we wish you an adventure that is unexpected, but equally as exciting as ours has
been.
