An album of many moods which could have been released in the late 60s BUT is entirely fresh.
14 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Folk Pop, POP: Beatles-pop
Details:
Refreshingly new but comfortably exuding the free spirit of the late 1960s - Robbie Smith is now in the house with the appropriately titled CD "Retro Debut" introducing 14 widely diverse original songs. Robbie has been writing since the age of 11 and has stockpiled a huge repertoire of folk, pop, nostalgia, love, reggae, jazz and world material. After a long battle with rhumatic fever in his teens and 20s, Robbie concentrated all of his energies on honing his songwriting and playing skills. His songs caught the attention of the program director of the Radio Station of the New York Times a few years ago - and many were played on the then syndicated show, "Woody's Children". Robbie got a chance to share the stage with Pete Seeger on a live broadcast from New York City. In the early 1980s, Internationally known Balladeer, Roger Whittaker recorded 4 of Robbie's songs including "The Last Song" which sold about a million copies and "Oh Life!" which was a big airplay hit in the British Isles. Since then, Robbie has emerged from the forest and played with several groups in Nova Scotia but is now concentrating his efforts on coming up with original material. Produced by Tim Feswick and Robbie Smith at Feswick Productions studio, the CD took over a year to record and the Robbiesongs themselves were several years in the writing. The musical arrangements are magically detailed and many fine musicians and singers lent their talents to the project. Each song has been the recipient of a tremendous amount of time, attention and TLC Only a few days after "Sidewalk Stars" was placed on the American charts, it had reviewer's pick awards for best melody of the week April 17 2007 and Track of the Day April 29th. A song is never complete until somebody listens so thanks go out to you who've spent a few minutes getting acquainted with the material on Retro Debut!
