Details:
Set I: FORMATIONAfter the break-up of punk group Alligator Gun in 1998, Craig Johansen and William Couture moved on to create their own music by experimenting with a variety of instruments and sounds. There past experience helped them in establishing the goal of letting the music take control rather than take control of the music.Set II: EVOLUTIONFollowing the remodeling project of turning a basement into a studio, Johansen and Couture continued to push their music until each part of a song was complete. The mindset for each musician was that they weren't going to follow any rules. With this newfound freedom they are able to go beyond boundaries that has resulted in the noisy, intense original sound that has blown audiences away. Some of the songs maintain simple and basic instrumentation: drums, bass, guitar and vocals. Other songs explore keyboards; drum machines, loops, and other random instruments all the while maintaining a seamless continuity.Set III: EXECUTIONThe brothers Reipenhoff (Joe and John respectively) of HIGH FIVE records helped get the first incarnation of the Cartel off the ground and playing shows. After a about a year a line up change took place and Nick Baker (formerly KINAH) joined. Nick brought friend and fellow guitarist Tim Sabourin into the mix and together they formed the wall of sound needed to make The Burbank Cartel complete.Begin!
