Todd became of age 9 months after his parents humped on the seat of a Vespa. In the process of coitus, alas, Todd was conceived. Todd grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Having been heavily influenced by three older sisters, and a doting grandmother, Todd learned that the key to success was to always put the toilet seat down after taking a wee-wee. As Todd comments on the evolution of growing up, "I remember having my ass chapped a few times for that. Now, it's just an automated response."
The CD is a mish mash of musical influences. The most evident being a lack of musical theory knowledge on Todd's part. Joe Craven, of the David Grisman Quintet, added a wide variety of knicks, and knacks to give an eclectic feel. Andrew Krus handled all of the bottom notes on an upright bass. In words, if Rusted Root collided with the Dave Matthews Band, and hired a blind Cajun drummer one would have the sound of Todd Mae.
Currently, Todd is in the studio with producer, and current Tower of Power guitarist, Jeff Tamelier. This will be Todd's first full length studio effort with his band, Honest Jr. For up to date info on HJR, visit www.honestjr.com.
