Details:
Let's be honest. Most band bios and CD descriptions are exercises in two things: Writing about yourself in third person and using flowery, alliterative language. When you read something like "Cataldo's moody melodies shed light on obvious song-smithing prowess," you know who's writing that make. Me. Eric Anderson.

"Cataldo" is a project I created for playing shows and recording music. I like playing in rock clubs, keeping people guessing about what we're going to do live, and having tons of creative options open, and the Cataldo name is good for all three. It's sort of like Bright Eyes without a drug addiction*.

Anyway, Elvis Costello once said "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture," and in general I agree. When people ask me what kind of music I play I usually say "Rural Indie-Pop." Whenever you hear something called "Indie-whatever" there's an unspoken assumption that it comes from a city, that there will be cutting, angular guitar lines, and at least one band member will have a beard or cool hair. None of that's true in my case. I also think it would be disingenuous to call it "folk-anything," although there are certainly aspects of that in my music. Rural Indie-Pop adequately describes the music, while remaining sufficiently vague and noncommital.

Well now I've told you a whole bunch of things I'm not, so let me tell you a few things I am. I am from Moscow, Idaho. I am in love with playing music. I am interested in being your friend. I am in debt. Please buy a CD.
