Based out of the bureaucratic capital of Canada, four Aboriginal musicians toil to subvert the machinery from within. Yes, weaselhead has been known to be abrupt, understated, and sometimes downright belligerent, but deep at the heart of it all lays the angst that each member feels in knowing what the bureaucracy holds in store for you. First impressions of each song leaves a sense of familiarity, however, dig deeper and you will find the doublespeak of the lyrics tell a different story. This is real-life in the sleepy, 9 to 5 reality that is the nationâs capital. Behind the 30 second political press video clips of faithless, impassioned politicians, watermarked inside the published rhetoric of any national representative organization, you will find the real âcontentâ of the human condition set forth to make sense of the world. Split a block of wood, and it is there. Turn over any stone, and it is there. The common, everyday understated passion that drives us all to do the things we do. Formed in 1995, the band has experienced many peaks and valleys through the years. From their first gig in the summer of â95 to the release of their last album Refugees of Romance (2006), The band continues to grow and develop their own unique brand of alterna pop-rock. Their latest offering is softened with the subtle influences of urban Aboriginal lifestyles and lofty concept-album aspirations. Sometimes hard, often understated, but always lyrical, the romance (or lack thereof) of these refugees extends through 17 tracks (over 70 minutes) of pavement knockinâ inspired alterna-rock that is bound to get inside your head. In 2006, weaselhead was a final nominee for "Best Rock CD" for the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards. weaselhead was nominated for "Best Group or Duo" at the 2006 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, where Wayne Restoule was also nominated for "Best Producer/Engineer".
