Jacob Winters (1986- ) is an up-and-coming rock musician from Fort Wayne, IN. He is currently performing independently (unsigned).

Early Years

Jacob Winters was born in 1986 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was raised in the southwest area of Fort Wayne in Aboite township. He attended Deer Ridge elementary there for two years before being moved to St. Joseph Catholic School by his mother. He spent the remainder of his pre-secondary years at that institution.

Secondary Years

Winters attended Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne, where he received high marks. While in high school, he developed a deeper interest in music and in his faith, becoming involved in the leadership team of his church's youth group, and was often found as a music leader there. Winters still remains a devout Catholic to this day, and is known to attend mass regularly.

College Years

In 2004, Winters was accepted at Purdue University. There he worked at Tarkington Dining Hall, and was known for his hard work there, and was quickly made a supervisor there. He became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, performing in the 2007 Big Man on Campus competition for his house, notably "calling out" the reigning Big Men, Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

In the winter of 2007, Winters decided to leave Purdue in order to pursue music after majoring in Biology and Psychology for two years, and completing a minor's coursework in Spanish Language and Literature. As a result, he is known to be fluent in Spanish.

Performing Years

Winters played publicly for the first time when he was in 8th grade. Through high school he performed regularly at his youth group, but little outside of this, other than his 2004 performance with the Ryan Daniels Band.

His first paid performances were in the summer of 2006, of which he earned only $50 per show. He began to play more regularly at Purdue in West Lafayette, IN, drawing a small crowd to each venue he played. His first album, Born and Raised in South Aboite, was released May 2, 2007.

Current and Future Happenings

Winters is currenly booking for the fall of 2007, as well as searching for a record label. He has said that his music "is meant to be played with a whole band," and hopes to achieve this with a label.

In the next year, Winters hopes to book a rigorous schedule in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. Rumors are that he is looking to tour in Florida and Georgia in the spring of 2008.

His first album has been described as a demonstration of a rock musician playing on an acoustic guitar. The album is eclectic in style, with some songs sporting a fast-paced feel, and others similar in style to Howie Day, John Mayer, and Jason Mraz.
