ROCK: Punk, ROCK: Hard Rock

Details:
Cab Assassin began in spring 2002 as the brainchild of Andy Burr. Ryan Wisnor (bass) and Aram Richard (drums) joined Andy (vocals) to form a unique heavy rock-based, punk influenced sound. The first songs had an old school punk rock edge, but the metal, rock, and punk influences initially caused song writing to be an arduous task.

Peter Webb (guitar) joined the band in the summer of 2003 and the myriad of styles and influences of the band began to meld into a cohesive sound. The topics behind Andy's lyrics were largely political and social in nature, and followed a "commentary" style of satire. Always a socially aware person, Andy was interested in conveying messages that he thought were important to be brought to people through music.

Before Cab Assassin could play their first show on January 31st of 2004, a fatal car crash involving a drunk driver killed Andy on January 18th while sitting in the car with fellow band mates Ryan Wisnor and Aram Richard. Cab Assassin dedicated the show to Andy and played without their singer, with each member taking a little of the lead responsibility. Song writing came to a halt during this difficult time for friends, relatives, and band mates. In spite of the hardships, Cab Assassin dedicated another show to Andy on April 24th of that year. This time, close friend Mel Gagarin, formerly of The Rejected agreed to honorably fill in the position of lead singer.

Mel joined the band as a full time member after the show and Cab Assassin took its present form, combining styles of Cab Assassin, Andy Burr, and The Rejected.

Cab Assassin recorded a 7 song demo in 2003 which included Mel and Andy's vocals on some tracks. In 2004, Cab Assassin played DC regularly and has since played NYC, Atlanta, Chapel Hill, as well as numerous other locations in the DC/VA/MD region. The band's self-produced, self-recorded, and self-funded album was released on September 28th 2005.
