Kulcha D was raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica and moved to East Side Brooklyn, NYC in 1982. With experience already under his belt as a DJ, Kulcha D quickly began to take on rapping and graffiti writing during this foundation era of Hip Hop. He went on to become a Zulu Nation representative and part of the 5th Element. In 1995 Kulcha D moved to Chicago and contiued to uphold his culture. He was part of the I.C.U. Crew which won an All-City battle in 1997, and also became a member of King Solomons Mines. As well as holding on to his Hip Hop foundation, Kulcha D began to move back to his Jamaican roots by linking with reggae DJ's in around chicago and chatting over their sets. The story of Kulcha D can be experienced through his music. His fusion of Reggae and Hip Hop comes not from a recipe, but rather from his past experience. He is the embodiment of these forms of music melting together, burning, ready to combust. He is the infamous, Kulcha D.
