Nabi (named after a typhoon in 2005) is the result of several ex-patsâ lives in Korea. The whirlwind experience of living life in a country so different from home is what shapes much of Nabiâs music. What started out as an acoustic duo transformed into a three-piece rock ânâ roll band and while the focus had always been song writing the focus has now shifted to live performance. Nabi prides itself on writing melodic lines paired with thoughtful, often introspective lyrics. Alex Black, a bartender from Brisbane, Australia always had a knack for strange chords and Terry Faulkner a former music store manager from Denver, Colorado with a penchant for off kilter bass lines immediately hit it off. These two met up with an innovative percussionist named Trevor Clements from PEI, Eastern Canada with the ability to alternate between homemade water bottle "junk percussion" and a regular drumkit at the drop of a hat and things only got better from there.
Nabi is proud to present Time Away. From the howl of discontent with the current state of the Earth on Dancing and the cry of helplessness in Live it Down to the feeling of newfound hope in Windowsill and the lighthearted feeling of freedom in Butterfly, these songs will more than satisfy anyoneâs taste for music with meaning.
