Details:
There is a new voice to be heard. It's at once calming, gritty, reassuring, vulnerable, honest, conversational, inspiring; his voice turns your head and makes you want to listen. Brian Dolzani's music is heart music. His songs are a slice of life that feels good, like an old friend or a new lover.

Songs like "Swimming Around You", "Overtime", and "In California" showcase a passion for relationship, experience, and excitement about what life has to offer. Songs like "Reflecting", "Something Beautiful", "What It Means", and "Orphans in the Storm" try to come to terms with life's complexities, confusions, and disappointments. "Happy", a highlight of Brian's latest record "Compass", juxtaposes tragic loss with the opportunity to see life through new eyes.

Compass is Brian's fourth self-released CD, hitting the streets in May 2007. He produced, performed, recorded, and mixed the record by himself in his home studio. A self-confessed writing junkie, it's never easy for him to choose the final song list for a record. "My band has at least 4 different versions of the record. I have at least 20," Brian jokes. "I look for intense meaning in life, and my feelings are always changing. So new songs are happening all the time." If you frequent Brian's shows, you will hear these new songs pop up in the set lists. "I started playing a handful of Compass songs last year. I have already started playing songs that may end up on the next one."

Music seemed to be in Brian's blood from the beginning, plucking out notes on the family's piano at age 5. His mom was in church choir, and his dad was a Beatles and Beach Boys fanatic. "My musical ear comes from my mom's side, but my dad had a killer record collection. It was skewed towards Beatles and solo Beatles records, and Rolling Stones. I remember the 'Tattoo You' record cover. As a young teen, man that was cool. He bought me Elvis Costello's 'Get Happy'. Admittedly, at the time I don't think I liked it. But obviously, dad was hip."

Unfortunately Brian lost his dad in a car accident when Brian was just 15. It magnified the typical teen confusion and rebellion, and sent him careening, looking for reasons and guidance. "I have to admit I didn't pick healthy substitutes for love and reassurance," Brian says. "But I have a rich emotional life to pull songs from as I try to create a ground underneath my feet." Always a dreamer, thinker, and lover, never satisfied with easy answers or yesterday's merits, Brian's music invites you to stay and listen to a unique and personal view of what it means to be alive, and the journeys, joys, and hardships we face together and alone.

Brian is constantly traveling, exposing his music to new audiences, playing upwards of 80 gigs per year. "I love the thrill of playing to a new audience," Brian says. "I like having something to prove." Boston, San Diego, Burlington, Atlanta, Hartford, Philadelphia, New York City, and Nashville are a handful of cities that have heard and loved Brian's music. He has competed and won song/performance contests in Atlanta (Eddie's Attic) and Philadelphia (World Cafe Live).
