...SO WHO'S THE REAL GRANDMA?
Wellâ¦my Grandma is a songwriter, pianist, musician, teacher, Emmy award recipient. She's written musical scores for plays being produced throughout the country (Dramatic Publishing), written original music for the Let's Celebrate series, (Astor publications), original piano books using jazz as her medium (Carl Fischer Publisher) and even appeared on A&E Biography.
The album GRANDMA ROCKS started as a dream, her very special dream, to create a different kind of childrenâs album. It had to appeal to kids of all agesâ¦just like the kids in our family. It also had to be musically and lyrically upbeat, exciting and fun for the whole family. To achieve this she used Swing, Latin, Rock and Roll, Country, and Pop grooves and Grandma said some important stuff too.
For instance, when I lost my first tooth it was an event in our house and I wanted to tell the tooth fairy all about it and when my older sister started to chew bubble gum and was constantly popping bubbles she was so excited about it so, grandma wrote a âpopâ piece about it. (Don't tell anyone...but grandma popped the bubble gum on the recording)
And for all of us who feel that we are constantly on the go (and that's most of us) she wrote a Latin piece called Always in a Hurry, ..and YES, a Rap song too. Grandma wrote, OH BABY! a Rap song about making the whole world laugh. She said it was something we all need to do. There are so many more songs that are fun songs itâs hard to choose a favorite. But the one I sing with grandma, GRANDMA AND ME is special because it expresses our feelings toward each other.
Composing and writing GRANDMA ROCKS has kept her very busy but no matter how busy she is grandma was never too busy to make us "Granny's Soup". She wrote a song about that too.
Another thing I must tell you is that Gary Schreiner, her son who composes music for movies and commercials PRODUCED the album and I sang on it with my sister. GRANDMA ROCKS IS A UNIQUE ALBUM CREATED FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. LET US KNOW HOW YA LIKE IT.
