Progressive, psychedelic, pop. If those three words don't sound like they go together, then you need to check out this record. Completely original songs to rock out to during your day.
6 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Progressive Rock, ROCK: Punk
Details:
In This Blackout is a four piece rock group from the suburbs of New York City. Their goal is to make original music that sounds good, and is fun to play. Their music can't be pigeonholed - you need to hear it to understand it.
The band formed in the summer of 2004, but didn't start playing live until spring 2006. The members have all played together in other punk and hardcore bands. The connection between the members helps fuel the creative process. For those of you who will not be satisfied without a full list of their influences, here are some examples of who inspires them - U2, At The Drive-In, Mogwai, Nirvana, The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine, and Elliott.
Spring 2007 welcomes the first official release for the band. "Night As Noon" was recorded by Kevin McMahon at Marcata Recording Studios, in New Paltz, NY. McMahon, a veteran engineer, has worked with bands such as The Walkmen, and The Big Sleep. The record was recorded, and mixed using only analog gear. You can hear the warmth in these 6 songs. The record has a certain fluidness that is hypnotic, and at the same time urgent.
This is only the beginning for In This Blackout. Tours will be booked, and records will be made. Do yourself a favor - check them out. You won't regret it!
