Taking their cue from such divergent influences at the Counting Crows, Better than Ezra, Elvis Costello, and -- of course -- the Beatles, carmen's condition writes music laced with passion. Each band member takes a singer-songwriter approach emotionally, investing their being in finding the spot in their soul where each song resides, and then opening up and sharing that experience with the audience.
Whether it's the incendiary wail of Chris' Paul Reed Smith, the crisp, booming percussion provided by Gus, the taut, expressive bass lines laid down by Doc, or the tenor of Scully's voice navigating from a whisper to a howl, carmen's condition is powered by the collective talent of the band's musicians.
