A dynamic and sensual guitarist, Ray Montford's music takes listeners on evocative journeys of the soul. Rock, folk, jazz, blues and world motifs unfold through the richly textured, atmospheric voice of his guitars as Ray conjures images that feed the imagination through melody and texture.

In July 2007, he will release A Fragile Balance, his first record of original songs in five years, inspired by a series of life-altering events. Produced by Ray and long-time collaborator brilliantfish, A Fragile Balance is an intimate collection of songs steeped in a rich cinematic landscape. A departure from his other albums, this atmospheric yet earthy record features themes that are inter-woven conceptually and wrapped in a sonic sea of ethereal under currents.

Montford has released five albums to increasing critical acclaim and has toured Europe and shared the stage with the Tony Levin Band, alumnae of Peter Gabriel. His music is featured regularly on CBC National Radio and Galaxie Satellite Radio where he was recently voted as âInstrumentalist to watch in 2007". During his twenty years as a guitar player, he's toured with the Rankins, Mary Jane Lamond, The Look People and many others, creating a reputation as a guitarist to watch.

In addition to his recording career, Ray owns and operates Soundhole Studio - a Recording and Mastering Room - where he produces sessions for other artists as well as recording and mixing his own records. Ray also composes original music and licenses his music for TV and film.
