--Psalmist and recording artist Rodney Jordan (a.k.a. Rj) was born in Toledo , Ohio , on October 9, 1973. He was raised on the farmlands of Swanton , Ohio along with his four older brothers. Even at the age of 2 years old Rodney could be heard joyfully singing around the house. Rodney however, was also an extremely shy person in his younger years and was only comfortable when singing around his immediate family. His mother would often encourage him to sing in front of other people, but he could not get past his fear. He recalls her saying, âYouâve got a gift boy! Just let it out and let God use you!â These encouraging words, along with the support of his church family caused him to begin to realize the powerful gift that he had on the inside. Rodney began singing in the Cornerstone Church youth ministry At the age of 16. (Cornerstone Church-Toledo, Ohio Pastor Michael S. Pitts Senior Pastor) www.cornerstonechurch.us and joined the Cornerstone Praise Team at age 17. Throughout the years he has faithfully served in many different capacities in the church including: the Prison Ministry (7 years and still involved), the Nursing Home Ministry (2 years), the Intercessory Prayer Ministry (2 years), and the Praise Team (15 years and still committed). Currently Rodney serves under the direction of Minister Derrick W. Thomas, (Minister of Music and Director of the Fine Arts Department at Cornerstone Church ) who has written such songs as âHope of the Nationsâ, "Get Ready", "New Seasonâ, âBreakthroughâ and âNo Limitsâ. Although Rj is very dedicated and involved in his local church, he also has a heart for missions. He has ministered in such places as Australia , The Philippines, Korea , Jamaica , The Bahamas, Ukraine , Brazil , Amsterdam , and across the United States , bringing healing and inspiration wherever he goes. Rjâs voice can be heard on over 8 different albums which include: âTo His Nameâ, âTogether in Praiseâ, âReformationâ, and the âKing of Nationsâ project with Minister Derrick Thomas. He has also soloed on the following CDâs: "Shout Kids Praise Gospel I", as well as "Shout Kids Praise Gospel II" (which received Dove & Stellar Award Nominations and was awarded Children's Music Album of the Year--Integrity Records). Rj sang background for national recording artist Israel Houghtonâs world renowned CD âNew Seasonâ (Integrity Records). He has co-written with Israel (People of Destiny) as well as travels with him on tour. Today Rj continues to be a blessing to many church services and conferences, as well as youth events all over the world. He released his first album Entitled "Abundance of Rain" on 10/04/06.
