Details:
2004 was very good for Caroline Aiken, with the completion of a 30,000 mile USA driving tour, crossing the country 4 times during April-Oct, performing over 150 shows, followed by a 5 week European tour in Nov and Dec. She did it all - management, booking, publicity, travel arrangements, CD creation and sales, performing major festivals, theaters, music series, house concerts, live performances on radio and features in national and international press. She received a prestigious endorsement from Martin Guitars and Strings, and won a 1000 CD manufacturing certificate from Discmakers through CAMPJAM In The Pines/ NJ, leading to a seventh independent CD release in May 2005, Are We There Yet Mama?. This CD includes recordings from a live theater performance recorded Feb 05, accompanied by Joel Tepp on harmonica; dobro; slide and clarinet, and Edo Castro on bass. The recording includes 8 new original compositions, as well as songs from 5 great writers from around the country. The new CD also has a live recording from CAMP JAM with Geoff Achison and a live recording in an echo chamber, from Caroline's archives. 2005 looks even better, along with the new CD, there is a long list of gigs, workshops, radio performances, theater and festival shows, and a 2 month European tour.

Her career spans 35 years, starting on the coast of Georgia with influences from the Georgia Sea Island Singers. In 1969, she found herself in NY playing in her first rock band "Father Time", then touring in California during the early 70's, followed by an international stint, performing in South America from '73 -'74, to the streets and venues of Seattle in the mid 70's, heading East to Greenwich Village in the early 80's and finally full circle, back in Atlanta. Since 1986 her base has been Atlanta where she is has received numerous accolades (Atlanta Magazine calls Caroline the "BEST ACOUSTIC ARTIST" and included her in a GA music edition pictorial, featured with Curtis Mayfield, Gladys Knight, The Black Crowes, the Indigo Girls, IndiArie, and more) and honors including performances with Mother's Finest and the B52s at the GA Music Hall of Fame as well as her very own display box in the Atlanta Hard Rock Café. The Coca Cola Awards nominated her as the best acoustic guitar player/vocalist. Performing Songwriter Magazine picked Live Bait, 1995 and Butler Field, 1997 each as one of the top 12 "DO IT YOURSELF" independent CDs. Blue Suede News says; "Caroline tears her 12 string a whole new consciousness".

She has caught the ears and hearts of everyone who hears her, including Bonnie Raitt. She opened shows for Bonnie in 1985, and Bonnie performed on Caroline's first recording in 1988, Line Of Vision. In 2002 and 2003 Bonnie Raitt introduced Caroline to the Austin and San Antonio scene, inviting CA to join Bonnie on stage to sing a verse of "Angel From Montgomery" at the fabulous Majestic Theater in San Antonio. Caroline 'found' the Indigo Girls in 1980 in an alley behind Good Old Days in Atlanta practicing a CSNY song. She put the third part harmony on it, and they became friends. CA invited them on to her stage when they were 16-17 years old. CA sang on the Indigo Girls' first recording and went on to tour with them nationally in 1992- 1994. In '95, she played four separate roles in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, starring the Indigo Girls. The 90's found another musical home in Texas at the Kerrville Music Festival, where she's been a featured headliner performing-songwriter since 1995.

Currently Caroline travels the country sharing her musical talents far and wide, having roots in every corner of the country, and an increasing core of underground followers. She is traveling slowly, enjoying the moment, avoiding the desperation that many musicians feel about having to "make it". She owns "Glutton For Publishment" record label and management company which has produced 7 CDs and a CD ROM for the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, embodying the true meaning of an independent musician. Her performances, direct and sincere, are known for emanating a high level of infectious energy, and those that have heard her perform live, always leave wanting more.
Her genre spans many styles, from rock/blues/folk/country, piano ballads to finger style guitar picking, all accompanied by her rich and soulful voice. She is an accomplished and diverse musician, being at home on both guitar and piano. Her finger picking style won an invitation to Stuttgart Germany Guitar Seminar, being held in May 2006, which makes her the first woman invited to teach at this event.

Caroline has been the Entertainment Director for the Atlanta Dogwood Festival since 1992, with 1995 excluded because she was a performing on the ADF MAIN STG with Moses-Mo (Mother's Finest), and Jaimoe (Drummer-Allman Brothers). She has brought the Dogwood Music to state-wide and national awareness by attracting regional and national acts such as Derek Trucks, Mother's Finest, Dave Mason, Chuck Leavell, Vassar Clements, B52s'Cindy Wilson, Grammy-winners and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. Also showcasing nationally award-winning touring singer/songwriters, as well as diverse musical worlds such as African music and dance, Mexican and Brazilian music and dance, children's shows, and the finest bluegrass picking around.

Caroline has been invited to teach her "Zen And The Art Of Performance"; "Songwriting In Your Sleep" and "Guerilla Guitar Works" at Summer Songs (www.summersongs.com) in Los Angeles June 27th -July 1st along with a full itinerary teaching workshops while traveling on tour. Caroline has taught workshops at Swannanoa Gathering (1999-2003) at Warren Wilson College in NC, South Florida Folk Festival, Summer Fest in New Bedford/ Mass, Quincy Arts Council / Cal, and many more individual and group sessions. The art of creating and enjoying stage time is her main objective for her students.
