Details:
Dâarcana was formed in the summer of 2003, with three highly acclaimed independent releases to their credit in as many years. Their third endeavor entitled Premonitions, is a double CD with artwork designed by Ed Unitsky, who has designed covers for Porcupine Tree, The Flower Kings, and the Tangent. Premonitions, includes a two part, 44 minute epic, and runs 1 hour 45 min. total.
Dâarcana has been receiving air play on various radio stations world-wide and it seems word is starting to spread about this exciting and innovative project.
The song âShimmerâ was included on a 2006 Canadian compilation CD from Terra Incognita entitled âDiscoveries vol.6â featuring some of the leading names in contemporary progressive/art rock.
While the songwriting core of Dâarcana is a three piece, the live band is as many as six, incorporating Michael Snow of the Metropolitan Hot Club (violin), Skip Allen Smith (drums) and Mike Palshakov (Keys)
Jay Tausig (Lead Vocals, Multi-Instrumentalist) - Began playing guitar, singing and performing at the age of nine and has been a prominent member of the progressive rock scene on the east coast since the mid 90âs. Jay was a scholarship student at the Westchester Conservatory of Music studying classical guitar and theory under James Larusso. His past projects (Lunar Sea, Solid Space, E-Motive) have toured with and supported a variety of prog giants including Gong, Brand X, Fish, Richard Sinclair, etc. He has also been a featured vocalist / performer on four internationally released tribute CDâs to Genesis (Supperâs Ready, The Fox Lies Down), King Crimson (Schizoid Dimension) and Peter Hammill / VDGG (Eye Witness).
Shelby Snow (Bass, Vocals, Percussion etcâ¦) - Began playing at the age of 12 under the tutelage of Bob Stern, son of legendary concert violinist Issac Stern. Shelby has performed live with Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead), Santana, Zero (John Cippolina), Carol King, Lacy J. Dalton, Gene Harris, Johnny Otis, John âMarmadukeâ Dawson and many others to round out a career of independent projects that span 32 years. Shelbyâs projects include opening performances for Jefferson Airplane, Booker T & the MGs, David Grisman Quintet and Stoneground, to name a few. Shelby studied music at the College of Marin in California.
James Camblin (Electric and Acoustic Guitar, Vocals) â James was born and raised in the Northern California area, and has been a working musician since the age of fifteen. In addition to performing live and recording with D'arcana, Camblin is also a session guitarist (Flying Whale Studios-Grass Valley, Ca.), and has been a member of supporting and headlining acts for the local Bill Graham Presents venue, including opening acts for names like Rush and ZZ Top.
