Details:
From an early age, Jami Jackson displayed a natural talent for singing and music. At the age of 5, Jami, held in the arms of her dad, was encouraged to sing the Little Mermaid song, Part of your World. She stood before a crowd of relatives and her beautiful, strong, and well-controlled voice brought amazement and joy to those listening. To Jami"s surprise, purses and wallets opened wide and money was placed in her hands. At the same age, Jami, while visiting her grandma"s house, saw a piano and surprised her parents and others by finding and playing notes of a song she had just heard. Soon after she returned home, her parents bought a piano and started her in piano lessons. They also started her in the children"s choir at church where she became a regular lead singer with a powerful voice that stunned and blessed the congregation.

Jami continued singing throughout elementary, middle and high school. She sang in school chorus programs, acted in school drama productions, and performed in school dance presentations from first grade through twelfth grade. She was a regular soloist and lead singer in the Peace Missionary Baptist Church--Spirit of Peace Choir performing at religious and civic events, in weddings, and in retirement homes throughout the community. At age 14, she competed and won a contest that led to her first recording experience. She was one of fourteen youths, age 10 to 16, who each performed individually recorded songs on a CD for the Caring Family Network which was sold to raise funds for needy families in the central region of North Carolina.

Jami was a featured performer in her high school chorus concerts. In these concerts, she performed Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys hit songs and received thunderous applause from audiences. She became the choice singer of the National Anthem to open the Durham Bulls Baseball games. Jami was selected as one of a few high school students to attend the North Carolina Governor"s School for Music in the summer following her eleventh grade. In twelfth grade, Jami auditioned and was selected to join the prestigious Spotlight Cabaret Singers of the Durham Public Schools System, in which she performed in song and dance all across North Carolina. Her rendition of River Jordan, was spiritually moving and joyous all at once at one of Spotlight"s concerts. Spotlight also performed at a civic awards banquet event, and when Jami performed Dancin" In The Streets, the speaker, Coach Mike Krzyzewski of the Duke University Blue Devils, was estatic and greatly moved at hearing her sing this song that was played at his wedding

Jami performed at several open mics, singing contemporary, pop, and R&B, around the Research Triangle area before she started college at Columbia University in New York City. This Ivy League university, in the music capital, was just the location for Jami to pursue her education and expand her musical endeavors. She sang the National Anthem at the Columbia University football and basketball home games. She sang at Kwanzaa celebrations, Black History Month Showcases and Bachannal Columbia campus events and she performed in a gospel concert at nearby New Covenant Church. In New York City, Jami discovered open mics on a bigger stage. She sang and performed as much as her time permitted. She began singing on mix tapes with V-Prod, a hip-hop production group made up of Columbia University students, and became known as Imajj. Then, Jami began to write lyrics and create melodies, and a whole new talent began to grow and thrive in her. She started singing backup with the Plan B band in New York and she performed some of her original works on a variety of venues. The desire to sing and get on a label in order to be an inspiration to others through her music took root in Jami"s heart and became a driving force for her.

Blacque Records is an independent label created to sponsor and develop fresh new talent through the recording and music labyrinth. Jami presented a melody and lyrics for The Way You Look At Me and it was clear that her talent merited all available investment of this label. Jami worked with Dick Hodgin, owner and recording engineer of Osceola Studios, Raleigh, NC; producer Bionik, aka, Sandy Wiley, a quiet genius at beat making; her mother Sandra Carr Jackson, Speech-Language Pathologist, voice and articulation expert, and writer; and her father and executive producer, Caesar Jackson. The journey of music production exploration and creativity began in December, 2005 and an album of ten original songs and compositions was released in March, 2007. Jami Jackson"s fascinating debut album, "Call My Name" is like nothing experienced before; an eclectic combination of ballads, inspirations, motivations, passions, and stories that span a range of emotions. The lyrics are poetic, colorful, and fresh. The melodies are engrossing, heartfelt, and vision-provoking. This album will take the music world by storm.

Jami performed at the Ashford & Simpson"s Sugar Bar in New York two original songs, "I"ll Let You Go", that she wrote, and "Sista Girl", with lyrics co-written with her mother, Sandra Carr Jackson. The music industry experts and the audience simply exploded with excitement and participation at Jami"s performance of Sista Girl. Comments made about Jami and her performance from the music industry experts were, "...powerful voice", "...a star", "...beautiful, smart, the whole package", "...songs are definitely hits" ...
