Combining the lyrical influence of Romantic poets and Greek tragedians with musical textures reminiscent of early â90s shoegaze, The Ludvico Treatment has recently released its debut album âRomanticismâ. The result of 5 years work between songwriters Adam Veenendaal and Alexander Mark Kennard, âRomanticismâ is essentially a solo album performed by Veenendaal along with some fellow musicians including former member Alex (now of Vixen Tor) and Trevor Larson (The Book of Lists, Circlesquare).

Half of the songs on âRomanticismâ were initially recorded in 2005 for an EP titled âSymposiumâ featuring former member Alex on lead vocals. After an amicable split, Adam took on Ludvico as a solo endeavour and opted to mix, master and produce the album himself with more emphasis on building the musical layers of the songs in lieu of the vocal-heavy mix of âSymposiumâ; meanwhile, a live band was assembled for performances in the Vancouver area. A year and a half later, the live band made its debut in April 2007 with the release of âRomanticismâ following shortly thereafter.

Work is nearly complete on the follow-up album, âPoliteiaâ, and an EP featuring the remaining songs from Symposium is due in the near future.
