This CD was recorded in the mid ninties and still remains a favorite. I recorded this at the top of a stair case in an old farm house with my old guitar that I bought in the west village, New York, 20 years ago. It was very happy up there in that foyer. A little dat machine and 2 little neumans was all that was needed to capture what the overtones were offering. Stepping Stones is a overture improv piece that has many starts and stops , as counterpoint seems to act as the director. Etude Du Couer, which in French means, the study of the heart, is a piece based on practicing the mood, more than the notes,( It's etude 2 in my book 25 Etudes For Contemporary Guitar On Melbay). Moonbugs is dedicated to the insect's we have yet to meet. Lonely Woman is one of my favorite Ornette Coleman classics..last time I played this peice was with Joe Lovano, Andrew Cyrille, Dennis Erwin live at Birdland,,,thank you so much Ornette. Always For You and Meaning Us are two ballads I wrote that are in a jazz format for improvising. Miro, written for artist Joan Miro, let me use one of his paintings on my first L.P. " For This Gift " on Gunmar ,Gunther Schuller's label, I wanted to thank him with this piece . Home at Last is written for drummer Skip Hadden and his wife Gwen while they were seaching and finally found their home. Premonitions is a improvised piece, based on pure guitar sound and the space between all notes. Rejoice is a written groove piece, with differnet time signatures in different sections.dedicated to drummer, old friend, Jamey Haddad.
