With over two decades of songwriting under his belt and 3 records, Doug Ploss continues to crank out his own unique brand of Americana music. Saying it like it's never been said before is a challenge for songwriters, but Doug somehow comes up with lyrical content and phrasing that always seem to have a fresh attitude. Doug and wife Tricia have performed in many different venues and churches over the years, bringing their very real and raw sound to the table.
Doug's "TAR CITY" album, released in 2004, makes a mockery of empty religion and and strikes a cord within the European radio market. Many cuts from "TAR CITY" found their way into over 100 euro radio stations with "Touched By Silver" making it onto the worldwide charts. The single "Tar City" was also picked up by PBS syndicated program, Dragonfly TV. At about the same time, the song "The Valley" off of Doug's first debut CD, Backporch Revival was discovered by White Dove Radio. The song stayed on the top 10 chart for several weeks, finally making it to the number one spot on the world's largest Christian internet radio station. With that success, Doug decided to give the song a heavy makeover to be released on his current album.
Doug continues to crank out the records...his latest gem being COWGIRL TATTOO. With a new group of top musical friends, upgraded studio gear and a fresh approach, Doug has engineered what he calls his "favorite work to date". Nine of the tracks feature the legendary Donnie Marvin on pedal steel guitar which ties the whole work together giving it a 70's country signature. Living out the music is one of the surest ways to create something with substance and Doug has certainly done that with virtually every song on the new CD...right down to the half sleeve Cowgirl Tattoo on his arm dedicated to Tricia.
Doug's goal as a performing songwriter is to inspire, uplift and encourage thru the gift of music...Doug often says "It never ceases to amaze me that God can take a thought out of my head, put it on a record and speak to someone who's down on their luck halfway across the planet.
