After paying his dues playing trombone in ska-punk band Liquid Schwartz, drums in pop-ska band Down in Front, and drums in piano-rock band Reactor One, Pete Pfarr decided to take matters into his own hands and pursue the pop-punk sound he had loved ever since he first listened to Face to Face's 1992 album Don't Turn Away.

Thus, in the fall of 2003, the one-man-band Of Science and Numbers was born. Pete quickly set out and wrote his first batch of songs, which would eventually become Untitled and Almost Over, named after the lead track on the EP.

Recording of UaAO commenced the next November (2004) and took nearly two years to complete, due to a myriad of complications including moving into a new home, constructing a new studio, transferring half-finished tracks into a new recording rig, and of course working a full time job.

Untitled and Almost Over was finally released in August of 2006. Pete immediately began working on its follow-up, titled The Disillusionist.
